Iron

Iron is an important mineral, which is part of many proteins and enzymes in our body. Most iron is in the hemoglobin of red blood cells. This hemoglobin gives blood its characteristic red color and binds oxygen from the lungs to then be able to transport to all body cells. In this way, our cells with the oxygen they need for their metabolism. Our body has sufficient iron necessary for efficient oxygen transport.

Iron is also myoglobine, the muscle protein that the oxygen in the muscles responsible. Myoglobine ensures that the muscle gets enough oxygen needed for the contraction of the muscle. A number of important enzymes used in energy metabolism have iron needed to function.
