Vitamin E (tocopherol), a fat soluble vitamin, plays a role in the production of red blood cells and maintaining muscle and other tissues. It is also important for the resistance. Vitamin E is an antioxidant it protects cells against free radicals in the body.

What is it in?
Vitamin E is found in vegetable oils and vegetable products such as cereals, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables. Animal products contain relatively little vitamin E

How much do I need?
Adult men (22-50 years) 11.8 milligrams per day of vitamin E needed adult women 9.3 mg.

What is safe?
The maximum safe dose of vitamin E, by the Health, set at 300 milligrams per day, which is about 25 times the RDA. This amount corresponds to 4.5 kilograms of nuts.

What are the consequences of too much vitamin E?
In theory, an excess of a vitamin E accumulation in various tissues and it can cause the processes that affect tissues. In practice so far no known adverse effects.
What are the consequences of a lack of vitamin E?

Severe symptoms caused by a vitamin E deficiency are very rare and are almost exclusively due to a severe impairment in absorption of nutrients. In an investigation into this was even after five years showed no effect. Possible symptoms of a vitamin E-deficiency anemia and damage to the brains (paresis). In children born prematurely, the absorption of vitamin E in the gut is still very limited because the digestive system not working properly.
