According to the research SU.VI.MAX estimated that currently 76% of women and 64% of men have a deficiency of antioxidant vitamins (vitamin E, C and beta carotene); 54% of the population is insufficient vitamin B1, B6 and B9; 10% showed a lack of vitamin D and B12.
Shortages were also reported in specific population groups: 93% of childbearing women taking less iron than the RDA for writes and 23% have a reduction in iron stores; 30% of the sportsmen and women takes less than 70% of iron in those required by the RDA;
62% of women and 45% of men taking sufficient calcium; 7% of women and 72% of men take less magnesium than is recommended.
